Halophila stipulacea: an alien presence reshaping the face of the Mediterranean

Have you ever felt that feeling of being in the right place, at the right time?
It happens to us every time we get on the SUP and let ourselves be cradled by the breath of the sea.
No engines, no rush. Only water, silence and the desire to live nature without disturbing it.
This is what makes the SUP one of the most sustainable ways to spot dolphins in Sardinia: you move slowly, without noise, staying on your path. And if they choose to be seen — or maybe swim next to you — they do it of their own free will. It’s a meeting that you don’t force, you don’t chase. It is welcomed.
With Sardinia On Board we live and share this experience every day: authentic, respectful, deeply human.
The SUP is our way of listening to the sea.
The dolphins, the unexpected gift for those who have learned to slow down.

Looking at a dolphin in the eyes changes everything
Have you ever looked a dolphin in the eye?
Not from a boat, not from a screen.
I really mean. Closely. In silence. While the sea is silent, and everything else stops.
It’s one of those encounters that can’t be fully explained. There’s something going on between you, even if neither of you speaks. Yet they “see” you more than you imagine.
You should know that dolphins don’t see the world only with their eyes. To orient themselves, to hunt and to communicate, they use sound. They emit a series of small “clicks” that travel in the water until they hit an object. When the sound bounces and comes back, the dolphin is able to reconstruct the shape, size, and even the movement of what is in front of it. It’s a bit like they see… with their ears.
This system is called Echolocation, and is extremely sensitive: loud and sudden noises can disorient them, disturb them, even stress them.
This is why the SUP is the ideal choice: it moves silently, without interference, and lets the meeting take place in accordance with their way of perceiving the world.
When you meet them like this, without invading, something rare can happen.
You look at them. And you understand that they had already seen you. Before you even saw them.

With Sardinia On Board, you can really live the sea
We are not interested in offering the “perfect” excursion for Instagram. We don’t promise you’ll see dolphins every time, because they’re not an attraction.
They are free. And we want to remain silent guests in their world.
For this reason, each release with Sardinia On Board is different. Sometimes it’s the reflections on the sea that take your breath away. Other times it’s silence. Or the surprise of a meeting you didn’t expect.
We move slowly, without disturbing. We’ll guide you, but we won’t rush you. Let’s let the sea — and those who inhabit it — dictate the rhythm.
This is what makes each tour unique. Not the number of photos taken. But the quality of the time lived. In balance. Listening. In connection.

Who is behind this experience?
Each tour is born from an authentic path, experienced firsthand by those who have chosen to live the sea every day with respect and passion.
